Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes?? These days, there's a lot of great stuff brewing behind the scenes, and I can't contain my excitment!
First up: Stair Treads. That's right stair treads. What, not captivating enough for you? Let's be honest. How many times have you entered the Firehouse Center for the Arts not to attend a show, but rather to avail yourself of our public facilities? If you've visited our subterranean restroom recently, you may have noticed that the stair treads were in need of repair. New ones are on their way, folks, thanks to the Newburyport Area Industrial Development Foundation.
Next: Squeaky chairs. Broken chairs. Uncomfortable chairs. The Mary Alice Arakelian Foundation has granted us the incredible opportunity to restore our chairs, which were installed 22 years ago. Stay tuned, and by the end of 2013, you'll be sitting pretty.
Finally: Systems Replacement Plan. Thanks to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a building consultant is on his/her way soon to evaluate our beloved facility and let us know what we can expect (in terms of expenses) for the next 20 years. I, for one, am thrilled. You can't predict everything, but you can investigate and plan. Can't wait to hear what they have to say!
